HUB29: Open Science Hardware

October 23 from 18:30 - 22:00

In recent years, many researchers have become familiar with the concept of open science as it relates to software and publication. But how does the technology and practical apparatus that we use fit into this model of openness and accessibility?

At our 29th Unseminar, we will be joined by leading figures in the Open Hardware community and Heidelberg’s DIYbio and Maker communities in a discussion around open hardware and the impact that it can have on scientific research around the world.

The Unseminar will include contributions from:

  • Julieta Arancio – Global Open Science Hardware Roadmap (joining remotely)
  • Tobias Wenzel – Editor,  Journal of Open Hardware
  • Michael Blessenohl – Vice-Chairman, Biotop Community Lab e.V.

The event is open to anyone who’s interested in bioinformatics, accessibility and openness in science, and self-directed technology development. We hope that you can join us! To help us in planning, please register your interest at the Meetup page here: https://www.meetup.com/HUB-Heidelberg-Unseminar-in-Bioinformatics/events/255420754/

Heidelberg Unseminars in Bioinformatics is organising this event in conjunction with the BioTop DIYbio community in Heidelberg and is supported by de.NBI and the Szilárd Library at EMBL.
